The Foisor Castle from Sinaia

The

Foisor castle from Sinaia, Prahova county, is situated close to the Pelisor castle. The initial destination was a haunting house for Carol the 1st, but because of the fact that it was finished before the Peles Castle, the king and his wife, Elisabeta, lived here for a while. The castle was also used by King Ferdinand, who lived at Foisor together with his wife, Queen Mary, until Pelisor was finished. The castle was the place of birth of King Mihai the 1st, son of Carol the 2nd and of Elena, who lived here between 1930 and 1940.

The haunting house had 43 rooms, being very appreciated by the members of the royal family. The castle from nowadays is not the building that used to be then, because during Carol the 2nd there was a fire that caused serious damages. Carol the 2nd decided to rebuild the castle, so that the new castle is the one that was built between 1932 and 1933.

During communism the castle was completed with another wing. Nowadays the castle is property of the state and its purpose are the presentation and protocol activities.
