The Daniel Castle from Talisoara

The

The Daniel Castle from Covasna county was built by the adjunct captain of The Three Chairs, Daniel Mihály. He started building it probably in 1621, when he received new gifts on his domain from Talisoara from the principle Bethlen Gábor. The castle is built in late renascent style, much alike to the noble buildings from the Baraolt Depression.

In 1669, the nephew of Daniel Mihály, Daniel Mihály the 2nd, continued building the North-Western wing. About all these extensions reminds the symbol from the façade of the building, which has in the middle the symbol of the family, the swan with an arrow in its neck, and the initials M.D. (Mihály Daniel) and H.I. (Haller Iudit –his wife). In 1680 there was a new construction phase, hat had the purpose to add a floor with the main wing, afterwards remaining the same view of the castle. Little modifications were made by the new owner of the castle, the baron Rauber Nándor.

The last major renovation was made by Daniel Gábor, who got back into the possession of the castle belonging to his family with the help of his wife, Rauber Maria. The classic wing of the castle was built by him in the year of 1884, following that at the beginning of the 1890’s to be built on the façade from the street a luminous terrace.
