Straja
The tourist resort is located in Hunedoara county, on an altitude of 1445 m, in Valcan Mountains, on The Jiului Valley, about 8 km of Lupeni.
The first dating of Lupeni is made about 350 years ago. Then, the main occupation of the inhabitants of these area was haunting. Starting with the 19th century, once they discovered the coal deposits, this area was colonized and became a strong industrial centre of Romania.
In Straja there are 7 ski trails, each of them being equipped with cable transport. Four of them benefit of nocturnal installation, so that the trails can be skied until late at night. The trails have the shape of a fan, so that there are areas to ski of 5 km. They are kept in good condition by 5 machines.
Canal trail is for snow boarding. You can ski here until april.
