Sucevita Monastery
Year of construction: 1583
Built by: Irimia, Simion and Gheorghe Movila
Summary: This classic moldovian church, having 5 rooms, is the first one to present the new architectural models: 3 pedestals for the tower. The frescos are remarkable, colorful and well kept.
The 3 Movila brothers built the “Invierea Domnului” Church from Sucevita, around 1583.
The church was painted around 1595, almost 50 years after the other churches. The big walls around the church had been built after 1595, during Ieremia Movila’s reign.
Each wall has a length of almost 100 m, 3 meters width and more than 6 meters height, leaving the impression of a medieval citadel.
