Slatina Monastery
Year of construction: 1554-1561

Summary: Schimbarea la Fata Church is situated in the center of the monahal settlement. It was built like Probota Monastery, aon bigger dimensions, being the biggest church from Moldova until the end of the 18th century.
The church is sheltered by 3 hills, at about 30 km North-West of Falticeni, in the middle of a quiet village. The historian Eftimie wrote that in 1554 Alexandru Lapusneanu: “left Suceava for River Suha, in order to investigate and find a place for the monastery. (…) The Prince saw the place and was very glad and liked it very much and paid homage to God and gave name to the Monastery of Slatina and appointed the first superior, Iacob, also named Molodeţ”.
Few years after his death, the monastery was plundered again. The church was again repaired and Nil put there a commemorative post mortem inscription, on the entrance.
The entrance is made by 2 doors, one to the Southern façade and one to the Northern one.
