The Teleki Castle from Gornesti

The Teleki Castle from Gornesti, Mures County, was built between 1711 and 1778, in the Transylvanian Barock style. The edifice has a park in the barock style with statues showing mythological characters. The castle was projected by the Austrian architect Andreas Mayerhoffer, who concepted it having the shape of the “U” letter, with a more prominent body, having decorative elements, elegant articulated. The façade is marked in its centre. The castle has 52 rooms and 365 windows symbolizing the weeks and the days of the year.

The interior of the castle is dominated by the main hall, the monumental stairs, the reception halls and their decorative elements.

The last owner of the castle was Teleki Mihály, who donated the castle to sanitary authorities from Romania, being transformed, in 1974 in TBC clinic and now works as a TBC prevention centre.
