The Royal Castle from Savarsin
The Royal Castle from Savarasin, Arad county is the property of the Romanian Royal Family. The edifice is situated on the area of a castle built in the 18th century by Forray family. The castle was rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century in the neoclassic style and having a floor and balcony, following to have many changes on the inside and on the outside. The castle is surrounded by a park that has a lake and a wharf.
During communism it was confiscated following to become possession of the Royal House from the 1st of June 2001. The castle became possession of the Royal Family in 1943, with the help of King Mihai, who bought the edifice from the noble Starcea Moccioni, that was renovated and got furniture, so that in 2005 it was back in the tourist circuit.
