The Natural Reservation Troianu Forest

The

The Troianu forest is situated in the Northern side of the Boianului field, close to Gavanu-Burdea and Urlui River. The reservation is part of the administrative area of the commune Troianul (Teleorman County), situated between Troianu and Vatra. It lies on a surface of 71 hectares, being in the custody of the Silvic Direction Alexandria. It has been declared reservation since 2004, in order to protect the peony, a specie that is threatened by extinction, being included in the Red List of the Superior Plants from Romania.

In order to protect the flora and the fauna there were taken protection measures: the reducing of the access ways in the forest, so that it would reduce the impact of the human factor, especially among the grass; forbidding the planting of the locust tree, the forbidding of any other activity or action that could lead to the partial or total destroying of the law-protected plants in the natural habitats; forbidding the grassing and the building of folds; forbidding the fires, besides in the arranged and signalized places and throwing garbage.

In the reservation there are about 60 species of plants and the fauna is mainly represented by deer, boars and rabbits.

As a tourist attraction in the area of the reservation, except The Troianu forest we can mention the traces of a road dating from the 2nd century before Christ.
