The Natural Reservation Manastirii Keys
The Cheile Manastirii Reservation is situated on Manastirii Valley, on the other side of Ramet Monastery. The keys suffered transformations because of the erosion of limestone Plesa Rametului-Piatra Cetii. They are part of a large system of keys and valleys dug by the waters of Ramet. Although they are not very long, they present 108 meter walls, ideal for alpinism and escalation.
On the beginning of the 80’s there were many finals of the National Escalation Championship, following that for a while to be only an escalation area for alpinists and from the beginning of the 90’s it begun the arrangements of some tracks. The keys of the Monastery are remarked by the big number of tracks that need the using of mobile insurances, the rock being appropriate for this kind of insurances.
To get to the Manastirii Keys one must leave the DN1 in the centre of Teius and continuing to the North-West the road to Ramet Monastery, passing through the villages Stremt and Geoagiu de Sus.
