The Pogány Castle from Paclisa
The Pogány Castle from Paclisa, Hunedoara county, is situated at about 15 kilometers of the Retezat National Park and 6 km away from Hateg. The castle built at the end of the 19th century has 2 levels and 22 rooms. The edifice is surrounded by a park, crossed by a river, with alleys. Being built in the 19th century, the architecture of the building is Barrock.
After the Second World War, the castle was occupied by the Russian Army, which built here barracks for the soldiers. Nowadays it hosts the Children Neuropsychiatry Hospital “Dr. V. Ilea”, the castle being used as hospital and administration center.
Some works of reabilitation were made at the beginning of the 90’s and starting with 2001 a new series of works began.
The castle was claimed and afterwards retroceded to the successors of the Pogány family, who invested in the renovation of the edifice, right now the building being in good conditions, but there are necessary new works to have its old appearance.
