Vatra Dornei

Vatra

Vatra Dornei is one of the most picturesque balneal resort from Romania. Because of its climate that is quite mild, the resort is an important tourist point in the winter season as well as in the summer one.

Also called The Bucovinian Pearl, Vatra Dornei is situated on an altitude of 800 m, on the confluence of Bistrita Aurie with Dorna, in the Northern Romania, where the commercial ways that unify Moldova and Transylvania come to an intersection and is well known because of the mineral carbonized  springs, from the beginning of 19th century. Rarau Mountains, Giumalau and Calimani, with numerous mountain tracks (summer or winter) constitute a major attraction for the tourists who chose this place.

Right in the centre of the town there are 2 trails; here there are organized the Season Holidays every year. In 2005 there was inaugurated a new lift, called Poienita , that is situated on the Parc 2 trail, The trail was improved this Summer, for the 2007-2008 season it was brought an installation for artificial snow. The third trail from vatra Dornei, situated on the Black Hill, is one of the longest from our country.
