The Natural Reservation Dumbrava Vadului

The

The Reservation Dumbrava Vadului is situated on the border of the Vad village where there is an oak forest, on a surface of 400 hectares. In the existing meadows there are many lent lilies, plants that are favored by the traced mud soils, being the only reservation from Europe having this profile. The lent lilies meadows lie on over 300 hectares and in some places there are more then 150 per square meter.

Each year in May there is organized The Lent Lilies Festival, an ethnographic and folklore festival. Young people dressed in popular costumes participate against the other participants from the villages and counties around. The festival is excellent to mark out the beauty of the popular dances, songs and traditions from this area.

Dubrava Vadului, known also as Lent Lilies Meadow became known among the tourists also because of the fact that it constituted the scenery from an episode of Neamul Soimarestiolor, screening of the book with the same name, written by Mihail Sadoveanu.
