The Forest and Botanical Reservation Balteni
The forester and botanical Reservation Balteni is situated in the meadow of the Barlad river, 10 kilometers away from Vaslui. The area where the forest is represents many depressions and is temporary flooded.
Although the initial area of the forest was about 300 hectares, because of the major logging, the surface has only 18,8 hectares.
On the territory of the reservation there are some species of rare plants, among which can be remembered: salba moale pitica, voinceriu pitic, element that is found only in a few reservation in the country; the colored tulip, being declared monument of the nature; the snowdrops, the yellow tulip, the orris,etc.
There are also many species of trees: oaks, ash, lime, yoke elm, maple, lantana, briar, and the flora is dominated by: lily of the valley, brome grass and viola. In the depresionar places there are species of carex, reed, rush and orris.
Besides the scientific importance, the reservation from Balteni offers a spectacular landscape, being an attraction for many of those who love nature.
