Humor Monastery is situated on Humor river, close to Gura Humorului town, surrounded by forested hills. Around, in the valley of the river there was formed the village that gives the name to the monastery, The Humor Monastery. The ruins of the first church of Humor Monastery or Humor, as it was known by then, are situated 500 meters to it. A document mentioned by Alexandru cel Bun certifies the fact the judge Oana built a monastery in Humor.
During the 15th century, Humor had been one of the most popular monasteries in the county. In 1483, Stefan cel Mare ordered to calligrapher, Nicodim, monk on Putna Monastery, to copy the Four Evangelisms of the decored manuscript with small portraits.
One of the imperial icons from the 15th century, recently remade: The Falling Asleep of Virgin Mary.
Humor is situated 6 kilometers away from Gura Humorului, on DJ177, where you can find accommodation and trip information. Gura Humorului is on a distance of 47 km from Suceav and 32 km from Campulung Moldovenesc, while on the road E58, the distance is the same, 36 km to Suceava and Campulung Moldovenesc. You can get to Suceava on the National Way E 85, E 58, but also by train on Bucuresti-Chernvitsi-Lvov by plane. The town has an airport.
