Şăulia Lake
Sauila is situated near the Comlodului hills, on Bologa river, at the intersection of the roads Targu-Mures-Band and Ludus-Sarmasu, 36 km away from Targu Mures.
The first written certification dates from 1377. In the area of the commune there were discovered traces of an old civilization: ceramic fragments, roman imperial coins, an axe of Cotofeni culture.
On the Great Reunion from Libertatii Field from Blaj, in May 1848 participated inhabitants from the commune, being ruled by Alexandru Papiu Ilarian, the son of the priest from Budiul de Campie.
The basic occupation of the the commune is agriculture, especially cereals. The main tourist attractions are situated on the shores of the artificial lakes, having a surface of 160 hectars. The populated lakes (carp, crucian) attract the fishermen from the county. The possibilities of accommodation are offered by “Andrei Provita” foundation, in motels and wooden houses, on the shore of the river.
The lake is situated in Sauila, 40 km away from Targu Mures.
