The Teleki Castle from Pribileşti

The Teleki Castle from Pribilesti, Maramures county, was built in the 18th century. The domain was donated in the second half of the 17th century, by the Apaffy Mihály principle to Teleki Mihály as a reward for the taking part on the wars with the ottomans. Teleki Géza, made another floor in 1987 and modernized it in the eclectic style. Teleki, who was an intern minister of Hungary, used the castle as a Summer residence.

The Red Tower Castle from Boita, Sibiu county, was mentioned for the first time in a Royal document from 1453. The Castle situated in a strategical region was an important border. As the legend says, the name of the castle was given because its walls were painted in red with the blood of the Turkeys defeated in a war from 1493 while they were standing aside to Tara Romaneasca.

The castle was built after the idea of a calendar, so that is has 365 windows, 4 towers, symbolizing the seasons, 52 rooms, representing the weeks in a year, 7 terraces, as in the days of the week and 12 halls, the months in a year.

The Wesselényi Castle from Jibou, Salaj county, was built in the 18th century, in the Barock style, being completed in the 19th century with new elements. The first stadium of the construction was between 1785 and 1789. Between 1797 and 1800 the building started again and there are mentioned as masons a Swabish, 2 masons from Galatii Bistritei and another one called Kovetsi. The buildings from the interior of the castle were made around the year of 1807. The baron Wesselényi died in 1810 when the construction workings were almost finished and the castle had furniture.

The Zichy Castle from Gheghie

The Zichy Castle from Gheghie, Bihor county, was built by a baron from the Zichy family. The last owner of the castle was from Muntenia, a noble called Mateescu. After his death the castle was nationalized and remained for a while unused, which increased the level of degradation of the edifice. From 1956 the castle works as a sanatorium for those who suffer of TBC.
