Alexius şi Georgius Bethlen from Cris

Alexius and Georgius Bethlen Castle from Cris is considered to be the most beautiful castle built in a Transylvanian renascent style. It was built between 14-17th centuries, serving as a noblesse fortified residence. The fortified edifice on a square plan was strengthen on the corners with circular bastions and an entrance tower, called The Archers Tower. The Castle also has a loggia with arched semicircular openings.

The Appafy Castle, situated in Costiui village, Maramures county is supposed to have been built around 1353, moment when because of the existence of the salt mines, figured as a regal domain. The purpose of the castle was to defend the mines and the mine workers in case of danger. Because of the Turkish expansion, in 1539 it was restaurated and fortified so that it could resist to their possible attacks.

The Apaffy Castle from Dumbraveni is situated 20 km Eastern Medias, in the waterside of Tarnava Mare. The Feudal Castle, having the form of a citadel, was built in the 16th century in the Renaissance style, by Grigore Apaffy, prefect of Dobaca county , who in 1552 bought all the domains that existed by then in Dumbraveni. The citadel-castle was attacked in 1562 during the Sachs revolt. As a result of the attack it suffered serious damages and it was necessary rebuilding and fortifying the castle with new bastions.

The Bánffy Castle from Bontida

The Bánffy Castle from Bontida, Cluj County, was built by the Bánffy family, who got the domain from the king Sigismund of Luxemburg in 1387. The castle was built in the renascent style. The construction of the castle probably started in 1437, when the baron had the permission of King Albert to build it. The works were finalized in 1453, but the first documentary attesting of the castle dates from the 17th century.

Banfy castle from Borsa was built in the 19th century, having the eclectic style with neo-barrock and neo-classic elements; from 1957 it had became Mental Cronic disease Hospital and from 2003 has became part of the Cluj County Council Patrimony. Its shape is rectangular, having a rectangular tower on the South-Eastern corner, that goes up on the deck floor and on the first floor. The access is made by a neoclassic portico, bordered by 5 Doric columns, that sustain the terrace of the floor. From the portico there is the hall and the rooms from the deck-floor and there are stairs for the access on the first floor. The tower is taller then the 1st floor, the windows of the last level are narrow and have a curvature above them. On the deck floor there is also the original wooden furniture, decorated with Venetian mirrors.

The Banfy Castle from Rascruci, Bontida, Cluj county was built in the 18th century in the Eclectic style. The castle is part of the Historical Monuments of Cluj County, list that has been elaborated by the Culture and Cults Romanian Ministry in 2004. As the chronicles of the Bánffy family show the actual castle was built in 1809, on the place of a Summer residence and was lived by the baron Bánffy Ádám. The castle had been working from 1967 until 2007 as a school for children with deficiencies.

The Castle from Banloc

The Banloc castle is situated in Banloc, Timis county and was built in 1793 by Karátsonyi Lázár, following that from the beginning of the 19th century until the first years of the 20th century to be decorated the building and the park as well. The castle was devastated after the First World War, suffering even worse damages between 1948 and 1989. The count Karátsonyi-Keglevich Imre sold the castle and the park in 1935, to the ex-queen Elizabeth of Greece, the sister of Carol the 2nd of Romania. He renovates the whole complex and so the castle has a last period of glory. After the queen and the employees left, the statues from the park were destroyed, the archive and the library were burned.

The Batthyányi castle from Alesd was built by the count Batthyány József at the beginning of the 19th century in the Barock style. He got the Alesd domain in 1779 from Maria Terezia. Maria Terezia gave domains in the area of Alesd and to the families: Bethlen, Zichy, Richter and Iacob. Nowadays the castle works as a hospital.

The Béldy castle from Geaca, Cluj County has been part from the list of the Historical Monuments in 2004. The castle was built by Béldy Ákos in the 19th century. He moved along with his family at Geaca as a result of his grade of prefect of Cluj, having this position between 1888 and 1905. The castle was claimed by Kerekes Maria, the successor of the family of Béldy counts.

The castle is surrounded by a park having 4,5 hectares. As a result of the nationalization, the castle had many destinations: the centre of Jibou Hospital , The Elderly Jibou House and now it is the Occupying Therapies Integration Centre, the castle and the park that surround it are a special location for treating the patients.
