Greece recorded a record number of tourists in the first seven months of 2013

The number of tourists arriving on the 16 main airports from Greece increased by 9.6% in the period from January to July 2013, announced the tourism companies Association of Greece (SETE).

Thus, in the first seven months of this year the number of tourist arrivals climbed to 6.9 million, from 6.3 million in the same period from 2012.

The most significant advance, 43.5%, was recorded at the Kalamata International Airport, followed by Hania, with 20.2%, Santorini, with 19.7%, Kefalonia, with 17.7%, Iraklio, with 17 percent, said the Association of tourism companies in Greece.

SETE boss Andreas Andreadis, said recently that improved political stability as compared to the decrease in prices, caused by the economic crisis, as well as cancellation of holidays in Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia have all contributed to the Greek tourism industry recovery.
