Sf. Ilie Church
Sf. Ilie Church
Year of construction: 1488
Built by: Stefan cel Mare
Location: Suceava, Suceava county
Summary: St. Ilie Church was first built for a little monastery, near Suceava. Now it doesn’t exist any more and the town has developed around the church.
St. Ilie church is very much alike Patrauti church. The architecture is characteristic to the old centuries, during Stefan cel Mare: a little church, only a narthex, a nave and an altar, having a tower.
In the middle of the west façade, there is the entrance. As for the most churches from this period, the door is gothic, having many arches that look like a lance.
