The Solymosy Castle from Mocrea
The Solymosy Castle from Mocrea, Arad county, was built in 1834, in the neoclassic style, by the barone Aczel Alexandru. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park with rare species of trees. The basements of the castle are big and were dug in the cliffs in the 17th century. As some sources show, a member of the family, Petru Aczel, lost the castle in 1879 on a cards game and Solymosy became the new owner until the Second World War, when it was nationalised. The town has been documentary attested since 1160, with the name Aqua Villa, following that in 1199 appear with the name Marca.
Nowadays the castle is used as psichiatry hospital, being the best kept castle from the area. It was recently renovated by the Arad County Concile.
