The Peles Castle from Sinaia

The Peles Castle from Sinaia was built between 1873 and 1914 by Carol the 1st of Romania, using the plans of the architects Johannes Schultz and Karel Liman. D. Heymann, August Bembé and Berhard Ludwig also contributed on decorating the castle. It was the summer residence for the royal family and it is considered the most important historical edifice from Romania, which, because of its historic and artistic value is also one of the most important monuments of this kind in Europe.

Pelisor Castle, situated in the park of the Peles Castle, was designed by the Czech architect Karel Liman and of the Viennese artist Bernhardt Ludwig, who decorated the edifice. Being a small castle, its construction was ready between 1899 and 1902, from 1903 being a summer residence for the royal family.

The Purgly Castle from Sofronea, was built in 2 periods of time, the first buildings until 1850 and the second period ended in 1889, the castle having its appearance from nowadays. The main body is built in the ecletic style, inspired by the Huniazi castle from Hunedoara. On the outside the castle has embroidery models, entrances and little towers. The interior of the building has its initial form, being remarked because of its aspect, the reception hall, having wooden bokes on the deck.

The Royal Castle from Savarasin, Arad county is the property of the Romanian Royal Family. The edifice is situated on the area of a castle built in the 18th century by Forray family. The castle was rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century in the neoclassic style and having a floor and balcony, following to have many changes on the inside and on the outside. The castle is surrounded by a park that has a lake and a wharf.

The Solymosy Castle from Mocrea, Arad county, was built in 1834, in the neoclassic style, by the barone Aczel Alexandru. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park with rare species of trees. The basements of the castle are big and were dug in the cliffs in the 17th century. As some sources show, a member of the family, Petru Aczel, lost the castle in 1879 on a cards game and Solymosy became the new owner until the Second World War, when it was nationalised. The town has been documentary attested since 1160, with the name Aqua Villa, following that in 1199 appear with the name Marca.

The Sturdza Castle from Miclauseni, Iasi county, was built between 1880 and 1904 by Gheorghe Sturdza. The Castle built in neogothic style, belongs nowadays to the Moldovian and Bucovinean Mythropoly . The Sturdza family received the domain in 1967 , following to become possesion of Ioan Sturdza, on the 19th of April 1699. He rebuilt the conac in 1752, building it on the shape of a cross, with basement and deck-floor. By that time it had 20 rooms, 10 on each floor.

The Sükösd-Bethlen Castle from Racos

The Sükösd-Bethlen Castle from Racos, Brasov county, was built in 1625, in the Transylvanian Renaissance style, by the gruff  Sükösd. The fortified edifice, not very big, was a noble residence. The fortification had circular bastions on the corners and a square tower on the entrance, tipical late military architecture. On the main façade of the tower from the gate, there is an inscription that showed that Samuel Bethlen made works of decoration and structure, which were ended in 1700.

The Szentkereszty Castle from Arcus, Covasna county was built in 1890, by the Hungarian baron Béla Szentkereszty, in the Neo-Barock style. The baron was a relative of the family of the Austrian gruffs Haller and his wife and the family of the Romanian lords Florescu-Bibescu. The edifice has 2 levels and a basement, the main façade stands out because of the terrace sustained by 6 classic columns and the northern side and the Southern side is remarked because of the big gables, rich in architectural elements, realized in the Neo-Barock style.

The Teleki Castle from Gornesti

The Teleki Castle from Gornesti, Mures County, was built between 1711 and 1778, in the Transylvanian Barock style. The edifice has a park in the barock style with statues showing mythological characters. The castle was projected by the Austrian architect Andreas Mayerhoffer, who concepted it having the shape of the “U” letter, with a more prominent body, having decorative elements, elegant articulated. The façade is marked in its centre. The castle has 52 rooms and 365 windows symbolizing the weeks and the days of the year.
