Mamaia
Mamaia is the most popular resort on the Black Sea Coast. Situated to the North of Constanta, between the Black Sea and Siutghiol lake, it is the resort with the highest accommodation capacity. Mamaia has a very dynamic development, every year the tourists can find something new- Palms, Aqua Magic, Fountains, Telegondola, decker buses, etc.
The beach: Mamaia is unique because of its very wide beach and its length of over 8 km. It has soft sand and the the sea has a very smooth entry. In most of the areas, the beach is very leased and it is arranged with chaise lounges where you have to pay, but there are also wide arreas of beach where you can stay for free. The beach to the South , to the entrance in Constanta is narrow and stoned, the one from the centre is wide, crowded and it is the zone where most of the events from the beach take place. The northern beach is the best arranged one and has the softest sand.
In some places on the beach there can be found lifeguard points. The lifeguards are very well trained and look out for the tourists daily, between 08.00 and 20:00.
Activities, Sightseeing: One of the main attractions of the resort is AquaMagic, a water park for tourists. AquaMagic is situated on the entrance of the resort and targets the tourists of all ages, with a capacity of 2.500 visitors. With a surface of 4000 square meters of water, it has many slides and pools. In this park you can also find restaurants, bars, fast-foods, confectioneries and also souvenirs and post cards. Tourists can choose beach with chaise lounges and a bath in the pool. AquaMagic is illuminated by night so that there can be organized shows and other night parties and the visitors have the possibility to have fun during the day, as well as during the night. For the first time, here there was inaugurated an open-air dance floor, with light effects and water games that work depending on the rhytm and on the intensity of the music. The telegondola from Mamaia, inaugurated in 2004, is an installation that offers the tourists the possibility to cross from a side to another, having an unforgettable panorama of Mamaia, the Black Sea and Siutghiol Lake. This was an unique project in Romania, and one of the few of this kind in the world. The Telegondola project , having the capacity of 600-1500 persons per hour, is the best way for those who want to admire from high above the resort., having two points to embark, the first one in the area of Perla Hoel and the second in the Casino area.
A fact to mention is that there is a very small number of villas and there are no particular houses, that in other resorts of the Sea Coast are well represented.
A scenic place is Satul de Vacanta, original because of the fact that here you cand find the traditions from all of our 40 counties. The 31 restaurants, offering traditional and fish dishes as well, are a great delight dor any tourist. One of the most famous restaurants in Mamaia is “Hanul Piratilor” restaurant, having the form of a ship, built on Siutghiol lake.
Tourists can spend their evening in other ways too. They can watch a cabaret show on Melody Bar, Orient, Miorita, Cherhana (where they can serve fish dishes), or dancing all night ling in the latest discos. There are many tentations.
For those who choose Mamaia, the divertisment offers exceed any expectations. The sports fields, the pools, the gardens, the parks, the cinemas can satisfy anyone. Every Summer, The Summer Theatre from Mamaia hosts the Romanian Music Festival, where the best Romanian voices will dispute the so wanted trophy. You can also listen to Radio Vacanta, that is broadcasted on the whole Sea Coast, and that emits in the in the international languages. As for the water sports, on the Siutghiol lake you can try water skiing, scuba diving, yachting and surfing.
